Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy
Grab breakfast and learn about how we can help your AI business thrive at the Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy (OAIP). We were established in May of 2024 by the legislative body to create thoughtful regulatory solutions for Utah companies using AI that allow for innovation while protecting consumers. Come learn about how we can support your business by providing regulatory relief (see details below) and come hear about our learning labs where we determine topics to present findings and recommendations to the legislature like mental health or data privacy and give us your input. Let us help your AI business thrive! Regulatory Mitigation: Under Title 13, Chapter 72 of the Utah State Code, the Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy is authorized to offer regulatory mitigation agreements to Utah-based AI companies. This program is designed to support businesses in introducing AI technologies to the marketplace by addressing regulatory challenges on a case-by-case basis. Benefits of participation include: - Regulatory exemptions for activities that may benefit the state in the future. - Capped penalties for regulatory violations. - Cure periods to address compliance issues without immediate penalties. - Safe harbors for adhering to negotiated rules and standards. - Regulatory certainty through tailored mitigation agreements. Logistics for event: We're meeting in The Aspen Room. Enter on the west side of the building by pushing the intercom button on a pole near the rotating doors to the control room which then will let you into the building. The room is on the hallway to the right once you go past the large lobby space. It's the last room before exiting the building.
