About
I’m Jacob Buck, a passionate advocate, entrepreneur, and community builder dedicated to creating meaningful connections and empowering others through innovation and service. With over 15 years of experience in volunteer management, I’ve built my career around fostering opportunities that transform lives and inspire growth.
My journey started with the Peace Corps, where I served in Kazakhstan from 2008 to 2010. That experience opened my eyes to the transformative power of global volunteerism, sparking a lifelong commitment to making a difference. Traveling the world has only deepened my understanding of diverse communities and shaped my approach to leadership and social impact.
In 2018, I founded Stonewall Sports Salt Lake City, an inclusive league designed to create a vibrant and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ individuals to connect through sports. What started as a local effort to build community quickly became a cornerstone of my work, demonstrating the power of sports to unite and inspire. My time with Stonewall Sports taught me invaluable lessons about leadership, engagement, and the importance of safe, inclusive spaces for the queer community.
These experiences gave me the confidence to dream even bigger. I’m now the founder of Volunqueer, a platform designed to revolutionize volunteerism for the LGBTQIA+ community. Volunqueer connects individuals and organizations through meaningful opportunities while empowering people to propose and lead their own community projects. With plans to launch by Pride 2025, my vision is to create a platform as impactful for the queer community as the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is globally.
I’m driven by a belief in the power of resilience, connection, and the human spirit. Through my work, I strive to create spaces where people can feel seen, supported, and inspired to make a difference—because together, we can build a better world.
