I’ve spent my professional career in multi-national, multilingual contexts, from serving in the US Special Operations and National Intelligence communities to developing products leveraging global supply chains and talent to working in some of the most innovative enterprises from Fortune’s Future 50 list. Along my journey, language barriers were a significant obstacle to my success. They impeded time-sensitive missions, caused many miscommunications, and undermined the quality of my interactions, whether I spoke with limited foreign language proficiency or my counterparts did. I had an “ah-ha” moment when I realized a new, seamless multi-language set of tools would alleviate the pains and costs of operating in linguistically diverse environments and fundamentally transform our access to people, information, and opportunities across languages.
