Hello! I'm Rebecca Chan, and I plan events and parties for a living. My business is one of the top event design and planning agencies in Toronto (Rebecca Chan Events). Having planned luxury weddings for over 15 years, I've since transitioned to focus on corporate events and design-driven activations.
Learning, entrepreneurship and bringing together great people are a passion of mine. I started in the event world 15 years ago because I wanted to follow the "love what you do" path. As cliche as it sounds, I truly enjoy my work and the opportunities it's lent me.
In my downtime I enjoy dancing at EDM festivals, playing ultimate frisbee and travelling to beautiful places. I am a city girl at heart and enjoy checking out both underground and major events around the city. Ask me to be your Toronto tour guide and I will be happy to take you around. Lately I've been learning to sew, learning to play pickleball and learning Korean/Mandarin (550+ day streak on Duolingo!).

Born and raised in Venezuela. I moved to Chicago when I was 20, then lived in Ottawa for 2 years and then I moved to Toronto in 2018.
I listen to Jordan Peterson while I work out. I listen to techno music when I work and my friends think that I am really into art and classical music.
I score high in consciousness (Big five stuff), I am on day 12 of the Sam Harris meditation course and every day I oscilate between becoming an investment banker or vagabonding the world taking photos of strangers.
I am fascinated by immigrants and entrepreneurs. My parents moved from Lebanon and Colombia to Venezuela in the 80s and started a successful venture - think of a micro Foot Locker.
I love my brother more than anything in the world. And professionally, I did some consulting and chief of staff stuff.
Ah! And my favorite episode of the Tim Ferriss show is the one with Derek Sivers.

I have a weirdly interesting background in fashion design/management, sales/marketing, logistics, entrepreneurship, and web-dev/UX design. Now, researching & building things to figure out what my next projects should be.
I have produced and hosted fashion shows and after-parties in the past; venue set-up, models and designer management, and generally making sure everyone is having a good time at the after-party.
Volunteered at tech conferences as a content writer, speaker liaison and registration/entrance liaison.
Not sure if this counts as a hosting strength...
As co-best man at my cousin's wedding, I sang, I Want It That Way by BSB... in a room full of 500 guests.
Getting involved with communities by hosting great events in Toronto, Canada would be a pleasure of mine.
I'll start working on venue choices and read 2-Hour Cocktail Party by Nick Gray book to brush off the hosting rust (if any).
